On today’s episode of Real Life Real Estate: donuts & deals. 🍩🏡😂

Because apparently Harvest on Saturday morning is also a perfectly reasonable place to negotiate an offer.

Real estate is all about balance… except sometimes “balance” looks like taking a client call in the middle of the street, while your kid is trying to get into the bag of donuts, and everyone else is just enjoying their Saturday. 😂

Offers don’t really care that it’s Harvest weekend. Clients don’t stop needing you because it’s the weekend. And sometimes you just roll with it — answer the call, handle the details, negotiate the deal… and then get back to the donuts.

Work-life balance doesn’t always look very balanced.

Sometimes it just looks like making real life + real estate work at the same time.

And honestly? I think this photo sums up Real Life Real Estate better than any professional branding photo ever could. 😂🍩🧡

Unpopular opinion 👀

You do not need to temporarily change your personal style just to sell your home.

The only time I will suggest painting is if the paint is in poor condition. Not because of the colour choices that reflect your personal style and the life that you have lived in that home.

We hear so much about having a blank slate. However, I would suggest showcasing how unique of a home it could be. Sure, there will be some personal items that we won’t showcase or photos for showings, but in general, completely negating, the life that you have lived in the home is a disservice as your REALTOR®️

At the end of the day, even if you paint your entire house white, somebody’s going to come in and paint it gray anyway. You may as well enjoy the time you have left in the house comfortably. Then allow others to appreciate it too before they make it their own. 🧡

My new Real Life Seller Field Guide landed on my doorstep just in time. 🧡

This week, I’ve been invited into two homes for listing appointments—and I don’t think I’ll ever take that invitation lightly.

Because before a home becomes a listing, it’s someone’s space. Their memories, their routines, their plans, their real life. Sitting around a kitchen table talking about what comes next is one of my favourite parts of this job.

Fall may technically still be a few days away, but the fall real estate season is definitely underway. New listings, new conversations, buyers making moves, sellers thinking about what’s next—and a brand new field guide to come along for all of it.

Apparently September has me in my feelings 😂🍂

Maybe it’s the back-to-school energy. Maybe it’s realizing I’m officially FIVE years into this real estate thing. Maybe it’s the fact that this year has been so incredibly good to me — but today felt like a good day for a little ramble.

Five years in and I still feel like I’m learning, growing, figuring things out as I go… but I also feel really damn grateful for the business I’ve built, the people who continue to trust me, and the fact that I get to do this for a living.

And now we’re heading into one of my favourite times of year in real estate — that little shoulder season between summer chaos and winter hibernation. 🍁

There are some great listings on the market right now, more coming, buyers still looking, and lots of life changes happening behind the scenes.

Because that’s really what real estate is. People moving into new seasons of their lives.

So here’s my September ramble. Probably went in six different directions. Probably forgot whatever point I was originally trying to make. 😂

But the general theme is: five years in, incredibly grateful, really excited about what’s happening now… and even more excited about what’s coming next.

Real life. Real estate. And apparently, real long rambles. 🧡

Apparently today is my FIVE YEAR anniversary at Keller Williams Capital Realty… which is particularly exciting considering I was fully under the impression it was my fourth. 😂

So there’s that.

Five years.

Five years of houses and humans. Offers written at ridiculous hours. Deals that came together beautifully and deals that nearly took me out. 🫠 First homes, forever homes, fresh starts, hard goodbyes, growing families, downsizing, upsizing and everything in between.

Five years of learning that real estate is actually very little about houses — and almost entirely about people.

I’ve changed a lot since I walked into KW five years ago. I’ve learned a LOT, made some mistakes, trusted my gut more, found my own way of doing this business and built a career that actually feels like me.

And somehow, through all of it, people keep trusting me with some of the biggest, weirdest, happiest, most stressful transitions of their lives.

That part will never be lost on me.

I’m incredibly grateful for every client who has called, texted, referred a friend, trusted my advice, handed me their keys, celebrated a closing with me — or tolerated me saying “okay, hear me out…” before presenting yet another plan.

And I’m grateful for the people I’ve met along the way, the friendships this career has given me, and a brokerage that has been home through five very different years of figuring out exactly what kind of REALTOR® I wanted to be.

Turns out… it’s this kind.

A little unconventional. Very invested. Occasionally unable to open a lockbox on the first try. 😂

And always, always grateful to get to do it.

Five years. Who knew?! 🧡

Here’s to whatever comes next.

Real life. Real estate. And apparently absolutely no concept of time. 🙃
