** MILESTONE MONDAY ** 🎉🎉

We celebrated a few milestones last month at our annual staff off-site, and one of them was Crystal’s 5️⃣ year!

Crystal started at Five Rivers in 2021 as a Bookkeeper and immediately dove in to the most challenging files and tasks. She loves spotting discrepancies and has taken on many new tasks over the years. Besides her bookkeeping skills, Crystal’s office is topically decorated at all times and her creativity shows in her amazing Halloween costumes! Outside of the office, Crystal is a mom to two amazing girls and enjoys cycling. 🚴‍♀️👻

To make Crystal’s milestone celebration even MORE exciting, we also announced her new title of Senior Bookkeeper. Crystal, your commitment and dedication to your work does not go unnoticed. Congratulations!! 💙💚

🔶 We are closed today, Wednesday, September 30th, to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Please join us in remembering the families affected by the residential school system and acknowledging the lasting impact of residential schools on Indigenous communities in Canada.

🔶 We recommend that everyone review the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Summary Report and 94 Calls to Action to find out how you can be a positive part of the path forwards. There is always more work to be done.

🔶 This year, we have made a donation to the Downie Wenjack Fund fund. We encourage you to visit their page to donate or learn how to show support in other ways.

We had the most fun at our company off-site staff meeting earlier this week! 🤩🤩

Once a year, we meet outside of the office to recap the previous year and look at what’s ahead. We also use this time to celebrate staff milestones. Congratulations to Crystal on 5️⃣ years, and to Kristi and Melissa on 🔟 years! 👏🏻

After the meeting, we spent the afternoon playing lawn games, sitting around the fire pit and enjoying each other’s company - a treat since we’re not often all together in person. ☺️

Thanks to Cox Creek Cellars for the beautiful space and lunch and Mr.Puffs Experiences and Confetti Counter - Gluten Free Bake Shop for dessert. It was a day well spent! 💚💙

We are lifelong learners over here! 📒✏️

Last week, we took a couple of hours to review budgets, reserve fund studies and investments and all of the quirky situations that can come along with them! 💰💰

These are things that we work on every day, yet there will always be something that comes up and challenges even the most seasoned manager. Grateful to be able to share experiences and compare notes as a group! 💚💙 Thanks RLB LLP for lending us your beautiful space for the morning!

Changes are coming to Ontario condos.

➡️ December 31, 2026 - changes to requisitioned meeting requirements and clarity surrounding owner occupied units (to be called “non leased voting units.

➡️ July 1, 2027 - expansion of the CAT (Condominium Authority Tribunal) to include disputes related to owner’s meetings, and increase to maximum cost awards.

As Pride Month comes to a close, we would like to recognize Out on the Shelf (OOTS) - a local organization committed to supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Guelph and Wellington County. 👋🏻

Out on the Shelf has roots going back to 1997 and originally centred around books! It is now a resource centre with many active members and volunteers, providing educational outreach and hosting reading clubs and other events. 📖

Our favourite day of the year…volunteering at Green Legacy!

🌲 started off in 2004 as a way to celebrate the Wellington County 150-year anniversary. The tree planting program is now the largest municipal tree planting program in North America! 3.3 million trees have been distributed around Wellington County to date.

🌲 offers amazing programming to school age kids, as well as group volunteer opportunities at their Puslinch nursery. This year, our 4th year volunteering, our group transplanted 2385 white spruce seedlings (after a bbq lunch) and had a great afternoon.
