🦇🏡 THE REAL ESTATE MARKET HAS BEEN A LITTLE… BATTY! 🏡🦇

And since it's Halloween, I can finally say it without anyone questioning me. 😂🎃

Interest rates changing. Prices moving. Multiple offers one month and slower sales the next. Buyers wondering when to jump in. Sellers wondering whether they should wait.

🎃🍂 WHERE'S YOUR FAVOURITE PUMPKIN PATCH? 🍂🎃

One of the best parts of fall in the Kingston & Loyalist area has to be the annual trip to the pumpkin patch!

For us, Fruition Berry Farm has been a family favourite for many years. There's just something about heading out to the farm, wandering through the pumpkin patch, taking a wagon ride and trying to find that perfect pumpkin that officially makes it feel like fall. 🎃

This year Fruition has pick-your-own pumpkins, wagon rides and a family-friendly corn maze, along with plenty of opportunities for those obligatory fall family photos. 📸🍁

But I'm curious...

🍁🧡 HAPPY THANKSGIVING! 🦃🏡

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what matters most — family, friends, good memories and, of course, a place to call home.

As I look back on over 25 years of Thanksgivings in real estate, I'm especially grateful for the incredible clients who have trusted me, referred their friends and family, and continued to support me throughout the years.

Some of you have been part of my journey for decades, and that means more than you know. ❤️

Whether you're celebrating around a big family dinner table, enjoying a quiet weekend at home or making new memories with loved ones, I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with warmth, laughter and plenty of reasons to be thankful.

Planning the Thanksgiving turkey? Start with the weight. For an unstuffed turkey roasted at 325°F (165°C), allow 2¾ to 3 hours for an 8 to 12 lb bird, 3 to 3¾ hours for 12 to 14 lb, 3¾ to 4¼ hours for 14 to 18 lb, and 4¼ to 4½ hours for 18 to 20 lb.

Treat those times as a guide, not a rule. Ovens vary, so rely on a thermometer: the turkey is done when the thickest part of the thigh reaches 165°F (74°C). Let it rest for 30 minutes before carving so the juices settle.

A frozen turkey needs time to thaw. In the refrigerator, allow about 24 hours for every 4 to 5 lb, so a 14 lb bird should go in the fridge by Friday for a Monday dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving from the William Taylor Real Estate Team.

If there is one side dish that earns its place on the table, it is this one: sweet, caramelized root vegetables with fresh sage, and almost no effort.

Heat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Peel and cut 2 lb (900 g) carrots, 1½ lb (680 g) parsnips and one 2 lb (900 g) butternut squash into 1-inch pieces. Toss everything with 3 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp melted butter, 3 tbsp maple syrup, 1 tsp salt, ½ tsp black pepper and 1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme. Spread across two sheet pans so the vegetables roast instead of steam.

Roast for 35 to 45 minutes, tossing once halfway, until tender with deeply browned edges. Finish with a squeeze of lemon, a handful of chopped fresh sage and a pinch of flaky salt. Serve warm.

🍁🍸 SWEATER WEATHER & COCKTAIL SEASON! 🍎🔥

Cooler evenings, colourful leaves, cozy sweaters and a little something special to sip on. Fall has its perks! 🍂

Whether you're relaxing on the back deck watching the leaves change or having friends over for a cozy evening, here's a cocktail that tastes like autumn in a glass.

🍎 🍁 THE APPLE C***R BOURBON FIZZ 🍁

A little sweet, a little spicy and perfect for a crisp fall evening!

🥃 WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

1½ oz bourbon

3 oz fresh apple c***r

½ oz fresh lemon juice

½ oz maple syrup

Ginger b**r to top it off

Apple slices and a cinnamon stick for garnish

Ice

🍸 HOW TO MAKE IT:
1️⃣ Add bourbon, apple c***r, lemon juice and maple syrup to a shaker with ice.

2️⃣ Shake well for about 10–15 seconds.

3️⃣ Strain into an ice-filled glass.

4️⃣ Top with ginger b**r and give it a gentle stir.

5️⃣ Garnish with a few apple slices and a cinnamon stick.

🍂 THE RESULT? A refreshing fall cocktail with the perfect mix of apple, maple and warm bourbon flavours.
