TOMORROW✨, Chester fills with SAILS ⛵️ as boats, crews and spectators come together for one of the most anticipated sailing traditions of the year.
For a few incredible days, our little seaside village feels just a little more alive colourful spinnakers across the horizon, busy docks, familiar faces and that unmistakable Race Week energy.
Having grown up sailing these waters, there is something especially meaningful about being out there racing on the same bay I have known my entire life. These 🏝️islands, marks and shorelines aren't just a racecourse to me they're home.
And whether you're on the rail, behind the helm, watching from shore or simply enjoying the atmosphere around the village, Chester Race Week is such a beautiful reminder of what makes this community so special.

If you asked me to describe Nova Scotia's SOUTH SHORE in just 2️⃣ things, I'd hand you a 🐚seashell and a 🌸hydrangea.
One SHAPED by the Atlantic, polished by the 🌊tides, and waiting to be discovered along our🏝️ beaches.
The other bursting into bloom each SUMMER☀️, lining village streets with shades of 🩵blue, 💜lavender, and 🩷pink that somehow seem to belong perfectly beside the sea.
To visitors, they're 💖beautiful.
To those of us lucky enough to call this place home, they're part of our story, and very often found in wedding bouquets for that reason. They are even still beautiful when dried, and into the fall season.
The shells remind us of afternoons spent wandering the 🦶🏼shoreline, pockets full of treasures and salt in our hair. The hydrangeas welcome us 🏡HOME, spilling over white picket fences and historic homes, colouring the villages that make this coastline so unforgettable.
These aren't just symbols of summer, they're SYMBOLS of the South Shore itself.

Tiny hands, wild raspberries, blueberries 🫐and "eating flowers🪷", and a pocketful of SUMMER. ❤️

Today we sailed⛵️ to Quaker Island, one of the most beloved little islands in Chester/ Mahone Bay.
We picked wild berries growing among the winding🏝️ island path to the top of the island, and made our way to the ruins of the old lighthouse the very place where generations before us once relied on its light to guide them safely home.
Sitting in those weathered stone ruins, sharing handfuls of warm berries under the Nova Scotia ☀️sun, I couldn't help but think how little has changed in the ways that matter most.
Children are still exploring these islands. Families are still making memories here. The sea 🌊still has a way of slowing time.
These are the moments I hope my girls carry with them forever. The smell of salt air, scratched knees from venturing, berries stained on their fingers, and the quiet magic of discovering places that have stood long before us.
This is the kind of wealth you can't buy💖
This is childhood in 💗Chester.
And this is 🏡home.

There are places that become part of who you are, and for me, this is one of them -- "CYC"⚓️.

The flags🇨🇦 flying over the CHESTER YACHT CLUB tell their own stories. The Canadian 🇨🇦flag reminds us where we call home. The Nova 🩵Scotia flag celebrates the province we love. And then there's my favourite the Martini 🍸Flag.
If you know, you know. It simply means "the bar is open... come on in." 🍸

This little corner of CHESTER⛵️ has been woven into so many chapters of my life. My boat is moored here all summer, you'll find me on the starting line every Thursday night for racing, and before long I'll be lining up again for CHESTER RACE WEEK.

Now, the story is beginning all over again through my GIRLS💖💖. This week, my five-year-old was off to sailing ⛵️school, learning the same 💨winds, 🌊waters, and lessons that shaped so much of my childhood. There's something incredibly special about watching the next generation discover the confidence and freedom that comes from being under sail.
These aren't just boats and burgee flags. They're friendships, traditions, and a community that always feels like coming HOME💗🏡.
It's one of the many reasons I love helping people find not just a house here, but a life on the shore.
