Your policy needs to stay active right up until closing — no exceptions. Here's why:⁠

🔹 You're still the legal owner until the deal closes, which means you're still on the hook for damage, liability, or loss. ⁠
🔹 Vacant homes are actually higher risk — burst pipes, break-ins, and fire go unnoticed longer without anyone living there. ⁠
🔹 A lapse in coverage, even for a few days, could leave you exposed right when you can least afford it. ⁠
🔹 Buyers' lawyers and lenders often require proof of active insurance right up to closing day.⁠
