Des intervenants de première ligne de plusieurs organisations, membres du Comité directeur sur l'itinérance du Grand Moncton, ont été reconnus aujourd’hui pour leur mobilisation lors de la situation de surdoses qui a touché la communauté du Grand Moncton. Cette réponse a nécessité une coordination entre les premiers répondants et les équipes du Réseau de santé Vitalité, du Réseau de santé Horizon, d’Ambulance Nouveau-Brunswick et de plusieurs partenaires communautaires.

« Dans des circonstances difficiles, les équipes ont travaillé ensemble avec du professionnalisme, de la compassion et un profond souci de la communauté. Cette reconnaissance est surtout l’occasion de remercier toutes les personnes qui ont répondu présentes lorsque leur contribution était nécessaire », a souligné Chantal Légère, directrice régionale des services de santé mentale communautaires pour adultes.

Frontline workers from several organizations, who are part of the Greater Moncton Homelessness Steering Committee, were recognized today for their efforts in response to the overdose crisis that has affected the Greater Moncton community. This response required coordination among first responders and teams from Vitalité Health Network, Horizon Health Network, New Brunswick Ambulance, and several community partners.

"In challenging circumstances, teams worked together with professionalism, compassion, and genuine care for the community. This recognition is, above all, an opportunity to thank everyone who stepped up when their help was needed," said Chantal Légère, Regional Director of Adult Community Mental Health services.

COMPASSION IN ACTION:
As students prepare for another busy academic year, one Dalhousie University student is beginning hers by giving back.
Olivia Landry is entering her second year at Dalhousie University, where she’s studying microbiology and immunology with hopes of pursuing a career in dentistry.
During a recent mission trip to Guatemala, Olivia saw firsthand how difficult it can be for people to access even the most basic dental hygiene supplies. The experience stayed with her and inspired her to help meet that need closer to home. She shared that it’s som**hing people don’t always think of, but it affects so much of our health.
Having known for many years about Harvest House Atlantic and the many ways we support people in our community, Olivia chose to donate 50 dental hygiene packages containing toothbrushes, toothpaste, water and other essential items.
We are so grateful to Olivia for seeing an opportunity to help and taking action. Her thoughtful donation will help meet an important need while extending care and compassion to the people we serve.

Please join us in welcoming Shakera Mitchell, our new Director of Programs & Operations at Harvest House Atlantic!

Shakera brings a strong background in leadership, organizational development, and operational improvement. She has a passion for building strong teams where both employees and the people they serve can thrive.

A wife, and mother of two, Shakera is excited to bring her experience and heart for people to our organization making a difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve throughout our community.

In her new role, Shakera will provide leadership across several key areas of Harvest House Atlantic, including Housing and Front-Line Services, Recovery Programs, Prevention and Diversion, Facilities, Maintenance and IT. She will work closely with our leadership and management teams to strengthen operations and help position HHA for continued growth and impact.

“I’m excited to join Harvest House Atlantic and contribute to an organization doing such important work in our community. For me, strong operations are ultimately about people, ensuring our teams have the systems, support and resources they need to provide the best possible service to those who rely on us.”

Celebrating James!

Last Friday, Harvest House Atlantic had the joy of celebrating a powerful milestone as James completed our 9-Month Addiction Recovery Program!

And as we celebrate James, we're also grateful to recognize that his graduation marks our 9th Recovery Program graduation of 2026!

Completing this program is no small accomplishment. It represents months of courage, perseverance, hard work, and a willingness to embrace change. James’s journey is a beautiful demonstration that recovery is possible and that, with hope, community, faith, and determination, lives can be transformed.

James, as you step into this new chapter, we pray that you continue to walk in strength, healing, and freedom, trusting God with all that lies ahead.

A special thank you to our Men's Recovery Team for the unwavering dedication, encouragement, and support you provide to our residents every day. We are grateful for the many people who walk alongside men like James throughout their recovery journey.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? | Shane, Recovery Graduate 2021

At 14, a severe hockey injury introduced Shane to oxycodone, sending his life in a direction he never imagined.

Within a few years, he was living on the streets and using m**h, experiencing drug-induced psychosis and multiple hospitalizations.

In 2021, Shane came to Harvest House Atlantic and entered our Men’s Addiction Recovery Program. While there, he began volunteering in the kitchen and discovered a passion for helping people who were still living where he once had.

When people began asking what had changed, his answer was simple:

“I couldn’t do it on my own. Christ changed my life.”

After graduating in September 2021, Shane joined our shelter team as a frontline doorman. From there, he moved into case work, then frontline lead, and today serves as our Kitchen Lead, the very place where his journey of serving others began.

But perhaps the greatest transformation has happened outside of Harvest House.

Today, Shane is also a husband and father of two.

“My old life almost feels like a movie I watched a long time ago rather than som**hing I actually lived.”

From living on the streets to serving those experiencing homelessness. From volunteering in our kitchen to leading it. From addiction to recovery, marriage and fatherhood.

Congratulations, Shane. We’re proud of all you’ve overcome, the life you’ve built, and the way you now use your story to encourage and serve others!

Celebrating Progress!

We’re proud to celebrate three of our Housing clients and the progress they are making toward greater stability and independence.

As part of our Continuum of Care, Harvest House Atlantic is proud to partner with Rising Tide, supporting individuals as they work toward their personal, housing, employment, health, and recovery goals.

This month, Michael, Michael, and Luc were each recognized through the Rising Tide program for the progress they’ve made. Congratulations to all three on this well-deserved recognition!

A special thank you to Moesha, our Harvest House case worker pictured with all three, and to Jenn and our entire our Housing Team for the encouragement and support they provide every day.
