"Is my home safe?" 🏠

We hear this question a lot when homeowners see their radon test results hover around the 200 Bq/m³ mark. Because radon is invisible and odorless, understanding what these numbers mean can be confusing!

Here’s a simple visual breakdown:
1 Bq/m³ = 1 radioactive disintegration per second in a cubic meter of air (roughly 3ft x 3ft x 3ft). So at Canada's action level of 200 Bq/m³, that’s 200 disintegrations every single second in that space.

While Canada’s guideline to take action is 200 Bq/m³, other countries set their targets even lower (like 147 in the US and 100 in parts of Europe). Ideally, radon levels should always be kept as low as reasonably achievable.
