The little green monster on your roof may be doing more than making your home look untidy. 🌿

Moss holds moisture and traps pine needles, leaves and other debris against the roof. As it spreads, it can interfere with proper drainage and contribute to premature shingle damage.

During fire season, there’s another concern: when moss and trapped organic debris dry out, they can add combustible material exactly where wind-blown embers may land.

Watch for:

• Moss growing beneath shingle edges
• Lifted or separated shingles
• Debris trapped in thick moss
• Heavy growth in valleys and shaded areas
• Uneven roof drainage

Moss should be removed carefully. Aggressive pressure washing or scrubbing can damage shingles and loosen their protective granules.
