A giant $1.2 billion NHL arena could be coming to Ottawa's LeBreton Flats.

The Senators and the National Capital Commission, who manage the city's federal land, signed a deal for 11 acres right by the O-Train. Reports show the team is paying around $37 million, but the sale won't close until they finalize agreements for the site cleanup and infrastructure.

But here's where it gets interesting. Preparing the site means hauling away about 514,000 cubic metres of dirt. That’s roughly 34,000 dump-truck loads of soil, due to the land's industrial past and the plan for underground parking.

The team wants the arena to anchor a new proposed district. Local developers estimate the concept could eventually bring in a hotel, restaurants, and up to 6 or 7 residential towers.

They hope to release much fuller plans in early 2027, and expect to keep playing in Kanata into the early 2030s.

Ottawa is getting a brand new floating sauna and cold plunge right on the river this fall.

It'll float beside the historic River House. The National Capital Commission, the group managing our public land, approved it to make the waterfront a year-round destination.

But who's running it? The founder is Mat Slaman. He operated Mooney's Bay pirate ship tours for 17 years, and even put his ships up for sale to build this.

So how does it work? You book a 90-minute session in a cedar room, pour water on hot stones for steam, and jump into a cold plunge pool fed by the river.

This is where it gets interesting. Our waterfront gets over 1 million visits in summer but empties out in winter. This year-round setup keeps the river active even in freezing weather.

They plan to open this fall, with sessions expected to cost between $39 and $45.

Ottawa's iconic Château Laurier officially holds the city's only prestigious Michelin Key.

You can think of this like a Michelin star, but for hotels. Inspectors stay anonymously and grade properties on service and character. Ontario only has 13 key hotels, and the Château Laurier is Ottawa’s only winner.

But Michelin didn't actually award the entire hotel.

They gave it to a private hotel-within-a-hotel hidden on the 4th floor. They call it the Gold Experience, and guests get a private check-in, a lounge with views of Ottawa landmarks, breakfast, and evening canapés.

This castle has been a landmark since 1912, but its opening was delayed because the builder died on the Titanic just days before the launch.

So why is this historic property winning global awards now?

The hotel recently went through a huge upgrade. They fully renovated Zoe's lounge, opened a cocktail bar called 1912, and brought chef Akira Back's famous Japanese restaurant to the lobby.

Ottawa just approved its first-ever huge indoor waterpark resort.

The developers bought about 8 acres of land on Palladium Drive in Kanata, right down the road from the Canadian Tire Centre. They're planning to build this huge resort across more than 13 acres, which is about 10 football fields of land.

The approved zoning allows for a 7-storey, 236-room hotel. But the hotel isn't the most interesting part.

The proposed designs show giant, colourful waterslides that actually exit the side of the building and loop back in, plus a retractable roof for the summer. There is also a proposed 2-storey family entertainment centre, and you won't need a hotel room to use the waterpark because they plan to keep it open to the public.

If fully approved, this could help turn this pocket of Kanata into a major entertainment destination, sitting near the arena, the Sensplex, and Tanger Outlets.

Council approved the zoning on September 9th, 2026. While detailed site plans are still under review, they hope to start building in spring 2027.

Manotick is getting a brand-new 25-acre boutique neighborhood built with premium brick and stone — and it's just minutes from the historic village center.

Most developments in the area are huge, with some putting up over 1,400 homes. This one's a tiny pocket of only 147 homes, with townhomes starting at $749,900 and detached homes starting at $949,900.

Follow me and comment "home" and I'll send you all the details.

It's just a 5 to 7 minute walk to historic Manotick village, so you can grab your morning coffee, hit the local shops, or stroll along the river trails without ever touching your car keys.

Right now, there are only 3 single-family lots and 4 townhomes left in this opening phase before everything else gets locked away for Phase 2. Move-ins start in late 2027.

Almonte could be getting a brand-new 110-home neighborhood steps from the Mississippi River trail system — featuring rare multi-generational home designs.

An established Ottawa builder's launching this 110-home project just 45 minutes from the city. If you've looked at home prices lately, you know how hard it is to find bungalow townhomes or plans built for big families. This new community actually has both. Modern townhomes start at $477,788, detached single homes start in the low $590s, and the multi-generational layouts start around $700K.

**Follow me and comment "home" and I'll send you all the details.**

The location is beautiful because you're steps from the river trails and a local park. You're only a 2-minute drive from downtown Almonte, so you can walk to get coffee, visit local shops, and skip the stressful city traffic entirely. If you want to keep your parents close, the multi-generational homes are built for families living under 1 roof, with options for up to 6 bedrooms so everyone has space.

The grand opening's October 3, and because this'll be a limited release, these early lots'll go fast.

A massive redevelopment could finally be coming to Ottawa's vacant $21 million Hudson's Bay building.

On September 23rd, 2026, the chief financial officer for Claridge Homes confirmed they're preparing a planning application for the huge block. It's about the size of 6 football fields, right across from the Rideau Centre.

Reports show Claridge reportedly paid around $21.5 million. That's only about $65 a square foot, following a court-ordered sale to cover the high costs of holding the vacant building.

But they face strict heritage rules. The historic stone exterior is protected, meaning outside changes face city review—though the interior can be completely redesigned.

Claridge is a major residential builder, and analysts predict they'll likely mix housing up top with street-level retail.

Once the city processes the paperwork, if the application requires feedback, they'll post the plans online for public review.

A giant $419 million rebuild is taking shape at Ottawa’s Lansdowne Park.

Crews have already cleared over 60,000 cubic metres of soil, and they're finishing up concrete work now so they can start putting up the structural steel this fall.

But when you look at the designs, the new arena has an unexpected detail. It'll only have 5,850 fixed seats, which is much smaller than the current 9,500.

So why make it smaller?

Because it's designed to be a mid-sized venue. Even with standing room, it'll max out around 6,600 people for hockey. In fact, Ottawa’s pro women’s hockey team, the Charge, already outgrew the space. They moved to the Canadian Tire Centre because they're drawing crowds of up to 17,000 fans.

But the arena is only the first phase. A developer paid $65 million just for the rights to build above the new shops. They're planning to build 2 towers up to 40 storeys tall, with about 770 units that could feature condos, rentals, and a boutique hotel.

The new arena should open by July 2028, and they'll finish the rebuilt stadium stands by November 2030.

She Gives Everything to Her Family. Now She Needs Us!

Hi, my name is Dimitrios Kalogeropoulos, but most people know me as DK, and I’m fundraising for Danielle “Dani” Grenon.

Dani has been a valued member of our team for almost a decade, and she is one of the most selfless, giving people we know. She is the type of person who always puts others first, especially her family.

Dani made a major life decision to purchase a farm home for her parents, Sue and Scott Kelland, creating a place filled with love, security, and memories for them to enjoy.

Tragically, that home was recently lost in a devastating fire.

In a matter of moments, everything was gone. The house, all of their belongings, their cherished memories, and even the vehicle Dani had purchased for her parents were completely destroyed.

Her parents narrowly escaped with their lives, suffering from smoke inhalation. Thankfully, they are expected to recover physically, but the emotional toll of this experience has been immense for the entire family.

Dani has always been the one supporting others. She has been a provider for her family, showing up without hesitation whenever they needed her. Now, she is facing a situation no one can truly prepare for.

While insurance will eventually help, the reality is that Dani is currently facing significant out of pocket costs and financial pressure during this transition. As someone who works on 100 percent commission, this situation has also impacted her ability to work while navigating everything that comes with a loss of this magnitude.

We are coming together as a community to support someone who has given so much to others.

If you are in a position to help, any contribution would mean the world. Your support will help Dani and her family begin to rebuild and take the first steps forward after this devastating loss. If anyone deserves a helping hand, it's Dani.

If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated on all social media platforms.

Thank you for your kindness, your support, and for helping us show up for Dani the way she has always shown up for everyone else.
