Did You Know? Every Building Carries Sound Differently.

Developers and builders use insulation and sound-control materials to help create comfortable apartment homes. However, no multi-unit building is completely soundproof.

Wood-frame and concrete buildings carry sound in different ways. Footsteps, closing doors, moving furniture, music, televisions and even conversations can travel through floors, walls and the building’s structure more than we realize.

Simple habits, such as using rugs or furniture pads, keeping volumes reasonable and being mindful when moving around, can make a meaningful difference for neighbouring residents.

On Wednesday, September 30, the Okanagan Nation Alliance invites the community to join the 2026 Walk for the Children in Penticton.

The 2 km Walk for Reconciliation is an opportunity to come together to honour residential school Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and support their families and communities.

📅 Wednesday, September 30
🕙 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
📍 Beginning at Safeway, 1301 Main Street, Penticton
🚶 Ending at the Syilx Indian Residential School Monument

Everyone is welcome to participate. Participants are encouraged to wear orange, blue or green.

As cooler weather arrives, it’s a good time to make sure your heating system can do its job efficiently.
Keep furniture, curtains, rugs and other belongings away from heating vents and baseboard heaters. Clear airflow helps warm the room more evenly and can also reduce unnecessary strain on the heating system.
A small adjustment can make a noticeable difference in keeping your home comfortable as temperatures begin to drop.
