There are plenty of things you can spend money on when buying a house. That doesn’t mean they’re all worth it.

When you’re buying, I’d rather see you spend your money on the things that make your move easier, make your new home work better for you and save you from avoidable headaches down the road.

A good home inspection, upgrading your thermostat, changing the locks, having the house professionally cleaned and hiring professional movers are a few of those expenses that can make a bigger difference than you might think.

Some are about peace of mind, some make your home more comfortable, and some are simply worth paying for so you don’t have to do everything yourself.

And this is one of the reasons having a realtor you trust matters. You should have someone who can help you figure out where to spend, where to save and what you can skip altogether.
