2027 is only 4 months away.

So why are you waiting to become the agent you said you wanted to be?

Every year, Realtors say, “Next year I’ll take social media seriously.” “Next year I’ll build my database.” “Next year I’ll finally get consistent.”

But January 1st won't magically change your habits. If you want different results in 2027, start building them now.

Here are 5 things to focus on over the next 4 months:

1.Build your personal brand. Stop trying to look like every other Realtor online. Share your knowledge, personality, experience, and perspective. People remember agents who consistently provide value, not just agents who post listings.

2.Build your database. Your database is more than a list of contacts. It's future business. Call past clients, reconnect with your sphere, and stay in touch with the people who already know you. Don't wait until you need business to start building relationships.

3. Fix your daily routine. You can't control when the next deal comes in, but you can control your actions. Prospect. Follow up. Create content. Learn. Make the call. Measure your progress by what you do consistently, not just by the deals that close.

4. Get better at your craft. More leads won't fix weak skills. Improve your negotiations, listing presentations, communication, market knowledge, financing knowledge, and marketing. Become the agent you would want to hire.

5. Build a real business. Create systems, document your processes, develop a content plan, and build a referral network. If your business depends entirely on chasing the next transaction, you're always starting over.

You don't need to wait for a new year to become a better agent.

Start now. Build now. Improve now.

The work you do over the next 4 months will determine what you bring with you into 2027.

Save this and use it as your reminder to start today.

The habits that quietly build six-figure real estate businesses.

Most people think top agents succeed because they're better salespeople.

In reality, many of them are simply more consistent with the activities that create opportunities.

They prospect even when they're busy. They follow up long after other agents have moved on. They build relationships with contractors, lawyers, property managers, and past clients because they understand that referrals often come from the strength of their network, not just their marketing.

They also focus on systems instead of constantly starting from scratch. Whether it's lead follow-up, content creation, client communication, or marketing, successful agents create processes that allow their business to grow without relying on motivation alone.

Most importantly, they become known for something. Top agents usually have a niche, a neighbourhood, a client type, or a market they understand exceptionally well. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, they become the obvious choice for a specific group of people.

The biggest difference isn't talent.

It's doing the right things consistently while everyone else is looking for shortcuts.

Save this if you're building a real estate business.

When I became a Realtor, I thought a big commission meant big income. Running an actual business taught me pretty quickly that those are two very different things.

1. Revenue is not what you take home. Splits, taxes, marketing, software, insurance, gas, photography, and client expenses all come out before that commission really becomes yours.

2. More hours do not automatically build a better business. Real estate can easily take over your nights, weekends, and every open hour if you let it. There will always be another lead to follow up with, another client who needs something, and another problem that feels urgent.

3. Leverage is what changes the game. Better systems, stronger content, smoother processes, and a personal brand that keeps working when you are not can give you something more valuable than another 16 hour day.

The goal is not to get better at working nonstop. It is to build a business that does not require you to.

Save this before you get into the business.

Whether it's January or August, just keep showing up and the results will come. Well deserved recognition goes to Helen Lam and Arion Xiao.

More importantly, thank you for setting the pace and showing how one person's momentum can become everyone's motivation.

The hardest part about being a Realtor isn’t finding people who need a Realtor.

It’s standing out when everyone already knows one. Someone will always have a friend, a cousin, a neighbour, or “a Realtor they’ve used before.” That’s not the problem. The problem is giving people a reason to remember you.

You need to...

Stop trying to be better at everything. Be different at something.
You don’t need to copy what every successful Realtor is doing. Find the thing you can own your personality, your expertise, your content, your client experience and make it unmistakably yours.

Build a system instead of relying on motivation.
Posting when you feel inspired isn’t a strategy. Create repeatable systems for content, follow-up, prospecting, and client experience so your business can grow without requiring you to reinvent everything every week.

Do what others won’t do.
Not because it sounds impressive, but because that’s where differentiation comes from. Better content. Better communication. Faster responses. More creativity. More consistency. More personality. The things that feel “extra” to you might be exactly what makes someone choose you.

You don't need to convince the market that Realtors are valuable. You need to give them a reason to believe you are different.

People don’t hire a Realtor because you posted the most. They hire you because you described their situation so accurately, it felt like you understood exactly what they were going through.

1. Describe the problem they’re actually experiencing. Don’t just post “5 tips for buying a home.” Talk about the buyer who has been searching for months and still feels unsure, the homeowner who wants to sell but is afraid of pricing too low, or the couple who knows they’ve outgrown their home but has no idea what they can afford next. When someone thinks, “That’s exactly me,” you have their attention.

2. Stop looking like a salesperson. Start looking like someone who understands. The moment people feel understood, the relationship changes. You become more than another Realtor trying to get a lead. You become someone who seems to understand their situation before they even explain it.

3. Talk about the questions they’re afraid to ask. Will I qualify? Am I buying at the wrong time? What if I can’t afford what I want? What if I sell and can’t find another home? What if I make a huge mistake? Those conversations are already happening in their heads, your content should speak to them.

4. Name the fear instead of ignoring it. Don’t only explain why someone should buy or sell. Talk about what makes them hesitate. When you can put their fear into words, you build a different kind of credibility.

The goal isn’t to make someone think, “This Realtor knows a lot about real estate.” It’s to make them think, “This person understands exactly what I’m dealing with.”

That’s the kind of content that turns strangers into clients.

Never live your life by someone else’s rulebook.

The safe path. The predictable. The version of success that looks good on paper but doesn’t actually feel like you.

Some of the best things come from doing the opposite of what was expected. Taking risks. Changing direction. Saying yes when it made no sense. Saying no when everyone else said yes. And being willing to show the messy parts instead of only the highlight reel.

Because real stories are more powerful than polished ones.

In business, people don’t connect with perfection. They connect with perspective, experience, failure, growth, and the person behind the brand.

So break the norm. Tell the story you’ve been afraid to tell. Build the business you actually want. Take up space. Change your mind. Reinvent yourself. And stop holding back because you’re worried about what people might think.

You only get one life. Don’t spend it becoming the version of you that makes everyone else comfortable.

Save this if it resonates with you.

If you're a realtor, one of the most valuable skills you can develop is the ability to reset quickly.

Real estate will test you.
Deals fall apart.
Clients change their minds.
Offers get rejected.
Appointments get cancelled.
Some days simply don't go your way.

Here are 3 ways to get better at resetting:

1. Don't let one bad moment become a bad day.

Had a difficult conversation? Learn from it, then move forward. One frustrating interaction doesn't need to affect the next client you speak with.

2. Don't let one mistake become a pattern.

Missed your workout? Get back to it tomorrow.
Lost a deal? Review what happened and improve.
Made a bad decision? Take the lesson and adjust.

The goal isn't to be perfect. It's to recover quickly.

3. Focus on what you can control.

You can't control the market, your client's decisions, another agent's offer, or whether a deal closes.
You can control your preparation, your follow-up, your attitude, and what you do next.

The best agents aren't the ones who never have bad days. They're the ones who don't stay stuck in them.

SAVE THIS for the next time real estate gets frustrating.
