This one hit me a little differently.

A previous client referred me to her brother-in-law, who was handling the sale of his mom’s home under power of attorney. Mom had lived there for 60 years. The siblings had grown up there. Every drawer, closet, and cupboard held a story.

Estate sales are never just about selling a house.

They’re about sorting through a lifetime.

The practical stuff: paperwork, repairs, pricing, cleaning.

But also the deeply human stuff.

The room filled with knitting books and yarn collected over decades.
The unfinished projects.
The little treasures that make you laugh and cry at the same time.

One minute you’re discussing staging, and the next you’re holding something in your hands thinking, “Of course she kept this.”

This family trusted the process. Four incredible people worked together, listened to advice, and tackled one decision at a time.

The end result? A home that sold for $81,000 over asking.

But the part I’ll remember isn’t the number.

Turns out the top shrub I should have researched was the one that fixes user error. 🌳🎤

I spent time at the nursery, researched foundation-friendly shrubs, filmed not one but TWO reels, and thought I was being incredibly productive.

Got home, checked the footage…

No audio.

The microphone was on.
The microphone was plugged in.
The microphone was apparently on vacation.

So instead of shrub tips today, you get my blooper reel and a reminder that behind every social media post is at least one moment where someone questions all of their life choices.

What a beautiful day all around.

Today I got to help sponsor and volunteer at the shred event hosted by Westfield United Church, and wow… what a turnout. We kicked things off at 9 a.m., but people were already lined up by 8:30 and it stayed busy right through until 1. Car after car pulled in with boxes and bags of paperwork to shred, and every donation dropped in the jar was such a nice reminder of how generous and community-minded people really are.

After everything wrapped up, we all sat down for homemade chili, warm dinner rolls, and the legendary “sex in the pan” dessert, which apparently is Cindy and Chris’s birthday request every single year. Honestly… I totally get it now.

More than anything though, today was about good company, lots of laughs, and getting to know such a kind and welcoming community a little better. Days like this really remind you how special small communities are.

And as a bonus, I even popped over to an open house across the street afterward. Gorgeous waterfront home. Total showstopper. Even cooler, it turned out to be the childhood home of one of the ladies from the church.

Just one of those really good days that fills your cup right up. 🤍
