Now that our kids are back to school, I wanted to share this Back-to-School Iceberg, created by Dr. Juliet Young.

What we see on the surface might be crying, talking back, distraction, skipping school, or changes in behaviour. But underneath, there can be so much more.

Maybe it’s anxiety, stress, sadness, bullying, difficulty learning, worries about failing, trouble making friends, family changes, social media, or feeling overwhelmed.

As parents, it’s important to remember that behaviour is often communication.

Instead of just asking, “How do I stop this behaviour?” let’s get curious and ask, “What might my child be trying to communicate?”

Our little people are humans too, and sometimes what we see is only the tip of the iceberg. 🩵

🚧 REIMAGINE HAMPTON ROAD UPDATE 🚧

❗ Pinewood Crescent at the intersection with Hampton Road will be closed to all traffic, including emergency vehicles, for approximately two weeks beginning Tuesday, August 25.

The intersection is expected to reopen by September 8.

Summer Pet Safety Reminder

If you're bringing your pet along for the ride, please take a moment to consider the outdoor temperature and how long your pet may be left in the vehicle.

During the summer months, the inside of a car can become dangerously hot within minutes—even with the windows cracked. Temperatures inside a parked vehicle can quickly reach levels that put pets at serious risk of heat stress, heatstroke, and other life-threatening conditions.

-Plan ahead when possible.
- Bring water and take frequent breaks.
- Never leave your pet unattended in a vehicle.
- If your destination isn't pet-friendly, consider leaving your pet safely at home.

The safest place for your pet on a hot day is often at home, where they can stay cool and comfortable.

If you encounter a pet that appears to be in distress please contact the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force. The general public should avoid intervening.
