Update on Balaclava Crossing from Sierra Construction.

The new building structure continues to climb with superstructure completion on track for mid-September, while inside, framing along with the mechanical and electrical rough-ins are now underway throughout. On the existing heritage building, old windows have been removed and prep work is in full swing to receive the new ones, spray-applied air barrier installation continues along the perimeter walls ahead of air tightness testing, and slate tile roofing repairs advance further leading towards a watertight building.

With site works also set to resume mid-September with an eye on wrapping up before frost, there's a lot happening on both sides of this project!

They are doing some renos to their building and saw this sign on the front of their building.

Henry Elliott ran a boots and shoes store from the early 1880s up until his death in 1934. The business passed to his son, Harry, who turned the business into a second hand store.

In 1959 the building had a fire, leaving the lot vacant for about 30 years until the building was turned into a cafe restaurant, Lor-el's.

Lor-el's ran prominently until the 1990s when they shut down permanently, leaving the building vacant for another 10 years until Doug bought the building, turning it into the antique store!
