Tissue test!

Here’s a quick little test to check your bathroom fan!

A proper functioning bath fan can help prevent mold, mildew, and costly moisture damage.

Here’s a couple things to do and keep an eye for :

- The Tissue Test: If a single sheet won’t stick to the cover while running, your airflow is blocked or the fan unit needs replacing.

- Cleaning Schedule: Vacuum dust off the grille every 3 to 6 months. Remove the cover once a year to clear buildup around the housing and motor.

- Warning Signs: Excessive noise, rattling, or visible moisture staying on mirrors 20 minutes post-shower mean it is time to service or swap the unit.

How to clean or clear a blockage :

*Unplug or turn off power to the fan*, pop the cover off, and pull out any dust bunnies or lint using a vacuum hose attachment or stiff brush.
Check the exterior vent cap outside your house to make sure the damper isn’t stuck or blocked by debris.

*If cleaning it out doesn’t fix the suction or quiet down the noise, reach out to an electrician or a general handyman to replace the motor unit.
