Ontario’s new HST rebate changes could save buyers thousands, and it’s already changing the real estate market in 2026.
Here’s what you need to know 👇

✅ The federal rebate is officially approved and active
✅ First-time home buyers may qualify for up to $50,000 back on qualifying new construction homes
⚠️ Ontario has also proposed additional provincial HST savings that could increase total relief to as much as $130,000
Naturally, more buyers are now exploring new construction opportunities across Ontario.

But rebates are only one piece of the puzzle.
Builder incentives, upgrades, lot premiums, timelines, resale value, and financing still matter when deciding whether buying new construction is the right move.
