Fifty three years ago, the real estate industry was completely different.

In 1973, Dave Liniger and Gail Liniger stepped into a space that was rigid, controlled, and limiting for agents… and they changed it.

They introduced the independent contractor model.

They bet on the agent.

They created a platform where high performers could actually build a real business instead of just work a job.

And because of that, generations of incredible agents have come through that system. Many of the best in our industry today started there, learned there, and built their foundation there.

That matters.

No matter where the industry goes from here, you have to respect the fact that what they built disrupted the space in a massive way and created opportunity at scale.

This video is a classy reflection on that journey.

In a time where the industry continues to evolve again, it’s important to recognize the people who reshaped the space we’re all operating in today.

📊 Real Estate Reality Check: The 80/20 Rule Revisited

It’s often said that 20% of real estate agents handle 80% of the business. But recent data tells a slightly different story. 

According to real estate strategist Mike DelPrete, the top 20% of agents are responsible for 65% of all transactions—not 80%.

These top performers average 26 deals per year, while the remaining 80% average just 3.5. 

This highlights a significant concentration of productivity among a select group of agents. 

Why It Matters:

For clients, this underscores the importance of choosing an experienced agent.

For agents, it emphasizes the value of continuous improvement and dedication.
