🌧️ PEI has taken on a LOT of rain over the past few days!

After a stretch like this, it’s a great time to take 10–15 minutes and give your home a quick check. A small issue caught now can save a much bigger headache later.

🏠 A few things worth checking:
💧 Basement & crawl space – Look for damp spots, water around the foundation, musty smells or anything that wasn’t there before.
🍂 Gutters & downspouts – Make sure they’re clear and that water is being directed AWAY from your foundation.
🏡 Around the foundation – Check for pooling water and make sure the ground is draining away from the house.
🔨 Roof & ceilings – Keep an eye out for missing shingles, new stains, drips or signs that water may have found its way in.
🚪 Windows & doors – Check around frames for moisture or water getting in.
🚰 Sump pump & drains – If you have them, make sure they’re working properly. This is exactly the kind of weather you need them for!
🌲 Trees & branches – Saturated ground and wind can make trees more vulnerable. Have a look for anything leaning or hanging dangerously close to your house.

And one more thing — take pictures if you find anything unusual. They can be helpful if you need to monitor whether something is getting worse or make an insurance claim.
