TIFF turns 51 and Toronto is already buzzing!

Happening September 10–20, TIFF 2026 is shaping up to be a powerhouse year, with Inherit sparking hype for its world‑premiere horror‑thriller edge, Ashes rising on Diego Luna’s star power, Prima Facie gaining awards‑season momentum, Villeneuve: The Rise of a Legend anchoring the festival as Closing Night Gala, and Bucking Fastard igniting cinephile chatter thanks to Werner Herzog’s unmistakable touch.

TIFF’s spotlight goes beyond the screen, too. The Tribute Awards return on September 13 at the Fairmont Royal York — a world‑class celebration of cinematic excellence and the festival’s largest annual fundraiser.

Tickets for the 2026 festival are available now. Use the link in our description to secure yours today!

One of Yorkville’s most iconic landmarks is turning 150!

Join at 34 Yorkville Ave., between Yonge St. and Bay St., on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM for its 150th Anniversary Open House. The celebration honours the history, heritage, and legacy of the Yorkville Fire Hall, one of Toronto’s oldest working fire stations.

The story of this remarkable landmark dates back to 1876, when the original Yorkville firehouse was built with a five-storey tower and two bays. The present yellow-brick fire hall was designed by architect Mancel Willmot and completed in 1889. Restored in 1974 and granted heritage status in 1975, the building became Toronto Fire Station 312 following the city’s fire-service amalgamation in 1998.

For more than a century, this heritage gem has stood at the heart of Yorkville, serving the community while remaining a distinctive part of the neighbourhood’s streetscape.

Heritage feature! 52 Elgin Avenue in The Annex.

Built in 1898, 52 Elgin Avenue is a beautiful example of Shingle Style architecture, a late 19th-century design that moved away from ornate Victorian detailing in favour of a more natural, relaxed aesthetic. Characterized by asymmetrical designs, steeply pitched roofs, varied rooflines, and a seamless use of materials, Shingle Style homes reflected a more informal connection between architecture and landscape.

Designed by Frederick H. Herbert, one of Toronto’s most influential residential architects, this home represents the elegance and craftsmanship that defined his work. Originally from Bath, England, Herbert arrived in Toronto in 1887 and quickly became known for designing distinguished residences in Rosedale, The Annex, and Parkdale. His signature designs often featured picturesque layouts, steep roofs, tall chimneys, and distinctive architectural character.

Designed by world-renowned architect Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang, with interiors by Mason Studio, this landmark development is redefining luxury living through exceptional architecture, timeless design, and meticulous attention to detail.
