The City of has implemented a on vacant residential properties. This means that if you're a residential property owner, you're required to declare the occupancy status of your residence - on an annual basis.
Homes that remain vacant for more than 6 months not declared will be subject to pay the Vacant Home Tax at a rate of 1% of the Current Value Assessment (CVA).
For the 2022 taxation year, you're required to submit your declaration by 2nd, 2023.
If you didn't get a letter or want more info, you can visit toronto.ca/VacantHomeTax - you'll need your property assessment roll number and customer number found on your latest property tax bill. You can also contact City's Customer Service at 311.
