Sometimes the biggest setback in your life becomes the moment that changes your future forever.
That was one of the biggest lessons I took away from my conversation with Palmy Kitti on Inspired to Invest Podcast .
After losing a successful fashion business, she and her sister could have accepted defeat.
Instead, they chose to rebuild.
Starting over with just $2,000, no real estate experience, no financial background, and no industry connections, they focused on learning, investing, and thinking differently about wealth.
Today, they've built a multifamily portfolio approaching $500 million.
Throughout our conversation, four ideas really stood out to me.
💬 "Real wealth isn't built by earning more. It's built by owning assets that continue working long after you stop."
Many people spend years chasing promotions, bonuses, and bigger salaries.
While there's nothing wrong with increasing your income, income alone doesn't necessarily create lasting wealth.
Assets that generate cash flow can continue producing value long after the work has been done.
That shift, from earning to owning, is one of the biggest mindset changes investors can make.
💬 "The best investors don't chase quick wins. They build assets that create wealth for generations."
In a world that celebrates overnight success, it's refreshing to hear someone emphasize patience.
Real estate has always been a long-term game. Markets rise and fall, interest rates change, and headlines create uncertainty.
But quality assets that meet fundamental human needs have the potential to create lasting value over decades, not just months.
💬 "Your greatest setback may become the foundation for your greatest investment opportunity."
Failure is rarely the end of the story.
Sometimes it's the event that forces us to question our assumptions, learn new skills, and pursue opportunities we never would have considered otherwise.
Palmy's journey is proof that adversity can become a catalyst for extraordinary growth when you're willing to keep moving forward.
💬 "Financial freedom isn't about having millions in the bank. It's about creating income that no longer depends on your time."
This perspective really resonated with me.
Financial freedom looks different for everyone, but at its core, it's about having choices.
It's about creating systems and investments that provide income whether you're working, travelling, spending time with family, or simply enjoying life.
As Palmy shared, multifamily real estate has given her the flexibility to care for her grandparents while continuing to grow the business.
What I appreciated most about this conversation wasn't simply the size of the portfolio Palmy has built.
It was the mindset behind it.
Long-term thinking.
Resilience.
Ownership.
Patience.
Those qualities don't just build successful investors.
They build successful lives.
If you're interested in multifamily investing, passive income, or creating long-term wealth, I think you'll really enjoy this episode.
