Ontario's Building Code is under review — and TRREB is making sure missing middle housing is part of the conversation. 🏗️

We've submitted practical recommendations designed to make the Building Code clearer, more modern, and more supportive of the missing-middle housing Ontario communities need:

🏢 Permitting single-stair residential buildings up to six storeys
🛗 Permitting elevators within qualifying exit enclosures
📐 Modernizing elevator size and speed requirements for small apartment buildings
🔄 Establishing an annual Building Code review process

Small changes to the code. Big impact on housing supply.

A new episode of TRREB's Ready to Real Estate podcast is live! 🎙️

TRREB welcomes Rebecca Mountain, an international best-selling author & high performance coach for a high-impact conversation with TRREB’s Chief Information Officer, Jason Mercer, on one of the most common challenges: the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it.

Drawing on personal experience and behavioral research, Rebecca challenges the traditional fixes of accountability coaching, time management, more training and explains why they so often fall short. This episode gets to the root of what's blocking ex*****on and offers practical strategies to close the knowing-doing gap for good.

If you've ever felt stuck despite knowing exactly what you should be doing, this one is for you.

TRREB is advocating with OREA and the province to develop a new, streamlined condo ownership model tailored to missing middle housing, focusing on multiplexes of six units or fewer. A more streamlined, cost-effective, and accessible ownership model could increase uptake and allow more supply of sought-after ground-oriented, family-friendly units.

A home search can feel overwhelming fast — especially when every property brings a new set of features, trade-offs, and emotions to weigh. 🏠

That's why TRREB's latest blog post makes the case for starting with a clear checklist. Before booking your first showing, work with your REALTOR® to separate your must-haves, nice-to-haves, and dealbreakers. It brings structure to an emotional process and makes every showing more productive.
