The Mask House is a two-storey dwelling that grounds its presence by embracing juxtapositional qualities in order to set an example for its neighbourhood which is undergoing a rapid gentrification. Located at the Roncesvalles Village, in the west end of Toronto, the project was designed and built respecting the narrow elongated trapezoidal site, the limited budget, the very restricted Zoning & By-laws, and of course a demanding brief from the client. Yet, the outcome brings vivid energy, inspires renewal, and suggests possibilities that design can offer.

Door casing is old fashioned and meant to hide the imperfection. Invisible Line is a unique door frame system that allows to install the door leaf flush with the wall without an architrave, creating an illusion of an invisible door.

Very often, I hear people talking about how bad the Ikea's kitchens are. I can bet those contractors who say this, has been able to adapt the European technology of fine carpentry and live with a misconception.
In reality, for price affordability, IKEA makes the best kitchen. It's the best modular kitchen you can ever build. Most of its boards are built in Italy, Greece, Norway, and of course in Sweden.

The above kitchen you see in the image cost me only $2400 worth of materials except for the appliances and countertop
And the kitchen sits in an award-winning house located in Danforth and St. Clair (Scarborough)

With that money, you can buy some cheap made MDF kitchen cabinet (home depot or lows category) that comes with 1 year of so-called warranty. Whereas IKEA provides 20 years no question ask warranty And IKEA can compete with top brands like Notely, Allmilmo, or Schiffini. Needless to say, similar SQF coverage from the above company will cost you 5 times more money.

In one line I can say " Ikea's top line kitchen is still cheaper than cheapest custom build kitchen whereas IKEA's quality is 10 times better than those.
