As former OFWs, this is a question that we used to ask ourselves often.

“Mga 5 to 10 years lang ako abroad.“

“Magiging masipag ako para makabalik ng maaga sa pamilya ko."

“Gagawin ko lahat, magtratrabaho ako pati weekend and holidays para mapabilis ang pagbalik ko sa Pinas.”

Pero natutupad ba? Yung 5 to 10 years na target seems to get farther away as we choose to stay longer abroad, and the promises to do whatever it takes to be home with our family slowly fades away.

The 10 years becomes 15 years, the 15 years becomes 20 years. The 20 years later turns into a lifetime.
