“Just a lease.” Those words feel like nails on a chalkboard to me. I hear them often, and every time, it stirs something inside me.
When I started my career 15 years ago (🫤👴🏻) like most I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. I door knocked, cold called, begged and pleaded, but keeping the lights on was a struggle. I joined a brokerage that taught me the value of leases, and I started to build my business one lease at a time. It was in those moments—grinding day after day, lease after lease—that I learned the incredible value they bring, not only to my business but to the lives of the people I had the privilege of serving.
I’m incredibly grateful to the amazing brokerage and leaders who guided me early on, showing me the value of leases and the skills to excel in them. While I’m at a different shop now, those lessons are still the foundation of so much of what I do.
One of the leases in this post marks a milestone for me—my 500th lease in the last eight years. Though my focus has shifted more toward purchases and sales, I’ll always have a special place for leases. The competitor in me loves stacking them up: 8, 9, even 10 in a month.
To some, it might be “just a lease.” But to me, it’s so much more—it’s a new home where memories are made, milestones are celebrated, and lives are lived. For every one of those leases, I’m profoundly grateful.
