It was such a fun and fascinating day helping out as a mentor at this Challenge!

Broker/Owner Ron Sally of RE/MAX Millennium joined Humber Real Estate Education facilitators Margaret Gourlay, Thadd Nettleton, and Pam Marwaha as mentors at today’s Rent-to-Own Reinvention Challenge — and what an inspiring day it was!

Learners presented creative, thoughtful strategies to address one of Ontario’s biggest real estate challenges:
➡️ How do we build a modern, transparent rent-to-own model that protects buyers, appeals to investors, and can scale across the province?

Teams worked with mentors to refine solutions, strengthen business cases, and pitch their ideas — gaining real-world experience and insight into innovation, regulation, and entrepreneurial thinking in real estate.

I know many people would love to see some cooling in the housing market, and hopefully this will come.

But as this article mentions right in the sub-headline, "Bank of Canada will try to cool the real estate market which is a key driver of inflation", there's something the article doesn't mention about the short-time impact.

As I've seen before, there will likely be more pain first and prices could (shockingly) further increase due to heightened competition as buyers rush to try and buy before the rate increases.
