It’s not a bad thing because it’s not. However, the hard truth is that “perfect” doesn’t exist. It’s an unknown metric that clouds judgment and prolongs the house search.

Buying a home can easily lead to being house poor if you don’t do enough research on the total cost of homeownership. When you find a house that you think is right for you, you need to make sure that you can afford ALL of the expenses that come with that house.

Just because you can pay the monthly house payment doesn’t mean that you can afford everything else that goes with it. The ongoing costs of owning a house can be sufficient, so before going ahead with a larger-than-needed home, just make sure that it’s worth the extra cost.
