Interest Rate Update! The Bank of Canada has held its overnight rate at 2.25%.

Canada’s economy showed renewed strength in the second quarter, with growth broadening across consumer spending, housing, exports and business investment. However, new U.S. tariffs, Canadian counter-measures and the continuing conflict in the Middle East have increased uncertainty around both economic growth and inflation.

What does this mean for Toronto real estate?

The rate hold provides some stability for borrowers, while improving economic conditions and a modest rebound in housing activity offer encouraging signs. However, affordability and buyer confidence may remain sensitive to trade developments, inflation and rising bond yields.

➕ For Buyers: Variable borrowing rates remain unchanged for now. Those considering a fixed-rate mortgage should be aware that rising bond yields may place upward pressure on rates, making professional mortgage advice especially valuable.

➕ For Sellers: Improving economic conditions and renewed housing activity may help bring more buyers back to the market, although pricing and presentation will remain important as buyers continue to be selective.
