Because it was simply window dressing, it was a performative decree designed simply to allay racist fears of the general population. It created a scapegoat that didn't exist. It didn't do squat to prices. Interest rates brought prices down.

That's crazy. We went from 86% of properties selling above list in Feb 2022, down to less than 19% in July 2026. I am surprised there are still that many getting multiple offers, to be honest. But I like seeing normality return, cooler heads are prevailing.

Which is still not quite a normal market. Just remember Harper and his housing minister Poilievre, brought in 0-down mortgages and 40-year amortizations in 2007, which added a ton of buyers and created the bidding war frenzy that lasted for 15 years.

Not sure 'balanced' is the word I would use. Been pretty much a buyers' market for years now. And with sales falling, and prices continuing to drop, it stays a buyers' market.

Excellent. Any costs that developers and municipalities don't have to pay out of pocket - and thus pass on to buyers - means (hopefully) lower new housing costs passed on to the end users.
