Originally built in 1888 at the corner of Bathurst and Lennox Streets, the Bathurst Street Methodist Church has been a longstanding part of Toronto’s architectural and cultural history.

Designed by Gordon & Helliwell, the Gothic Revival landmark has evolved alongside the surrounding neighbourhood, serving as a place of worship and, later, a performing arts venue.

Today, the site is entering a new chapter, with plans to become home to 386 rental residences, bringing new life to a historic Toronto landmark while honouring its rich architectural heritage.

Built in 1888, the historic former Bathurst Street Methodist Church will be preserved as part of our proposed development.

The original sanctuary, including its ceiling, columns and balcony, will be retained, along with one of the building’s original staircases leading to the balcony.

These heritage elements will remain an important part of the building’s future, and we look forward to giving them a new place and purpose for years to come.

Designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects, the proposal will restore the 1888 former Bathurst Street Methodist Church in situ, while a new 41-storey tower rises above it through a series of stepped cantilevers.

The project is proposed to deliver 386 purpose-built rental homes alongside publicly accessible cultural and commercial space within the restored church.
