Rosebud mode *ON* … how I’d decorate this contemporary Toronto infill home with an unlimited budget šŸ˜ this 3 bed, 3 bath home is offered for lease in Playter Estates/Greektown, Just North of Danforth, a few blocks east of Broadview.

Another fabulous home designed by .ca that is, in part, a response to the city’s ā€œmissing middleā€ by way of an innovative 1-of-3 unit infill property offering gentle housing density to otherwise single family residential neighbourhoods.

Comment ā€œArundelā€ and I’ll send you more details about this home direct to your inbox.

Brown + butter yellow. I’ve always been equally fascinated and perplexed by combining colours. But finally starting to study colour theory formally has me experimenting at every opportunity… and I’m enthralled.

Hence the brown and butter yellow nails. I’ve never loved a nail set more. This is kind of a big deal for me because I haven’t gotten my nails done in 2 years since babes was born.

Are these long nails practical with a toddler? No. But right now I just love looking at them. When I look down, my hands are reminding me to play with colour.

So these nails will be my personality for the foreseeable future… until I get too annoyed by them šŸ™ƒšŸ’…

Recently, I quietly launched a project that I’ve had on my to-do list for AGES: my warm, cool & retro Ontario home bulletin.

I wanted a place to share a curated list of (I guess I’ll repeat it) warm, cool *OR* retro homes that catch my eye and are exemplary of how you can make your house a home in a unique way.

Six years ago, a year after getting my real estate license, I started posting house tours. My comment sections were FILLED with people who were craving SOUL and character in their houses and in the way homes were presented for sale online.

I could sense the tides turning (away from stark minimalism) then and even more so now, as we are presented with the age of rapid robotic integration šŸ™ƒā€¦

So this bulletin is a place where together we can appreciate inspiring (often retro) home design, and explore ideas to incorporate meaningful decorating into our own spaces.

But I want to highlight that this isn’t always going to be mcm homes. Because the reality is: I work in real estate and there are sadly not enough well preserved midcentury modern homes to go around. But I’m studying home design, and many of the principles we love so much about the mcm ethos are things I’m actively trying to incorporate into my own work whenever possible: warmth (humanity), a sense of ā€œcoolā€ or uniqueness and intention, and yes a tinge of nostalgia where possible 🤤 so thus: warm cool retro.

I’d love if you joined me there šŸ¤Ž the link to sign up for the monthly-ish email newsletter is in my bio.

*On the market* is this delightfully customized midcentury modern home in Hamilton, loved by the original owners for 69 years.

From the wall-to-wall animal print carpet, to the custom pink tile in the shower, every detail in this 1958 home has been considered down to the inch.

Let this house be a reminder to you that home design rules can be broken. For example, the owners converted the attached two car garage to a wood panelled games room fit for a custom 6x12 yellow snooker table. They also added a massive 20x46 ft family & dining room edition with beamed ceilings and expansive windows overlooking the pool (feat a pink conversation pit style sofa).

I had the pleasure of visiting this home in person, and it is clear that the homeowners (and decorator, Harvey Sobel) really made this house a home.

This is truly a property you need to visit in person to experience all its charm.

Rounding up the warm, cool & retro interiors that have left a lasting impression over the last 5 years. šŸ¤Ž

Many people might called these properties dated or stuck in the past, but I’m grateful that we’ve been able to build a little audience of people here who appreciate the charm and story of these noteworthy homes.Ā

I do feel the tides turning slowly … more and more every year there seems to be a growing passion for preserving and honouring these unique spaces. I hope this awareness continues.

These homes, their architecture, the people who designed, built, and lived in them are a delightful sliver of history that pains me to see be erased time and time again.Ā

Here’s to uncovering more modernist, retro and special homes that we can document together… hopefully more of them stick around so they can continue to be lived in and loved by you! šŸ¤Ž see you in 2026 friends.
