🏠 Real Estate vs Gold vs S&P 500 — What Would You Choose?
1324% growth in 10 years!!! 😲
What is better — Real Estate, Gold, or S&P 500?” 😄
I get this question a lot, especially from young and first-time home buyers:
First, a disclaimer: I’m a licensed Real Estate broker and Mortgage broker only, ….not an investment advisor.
But let's look at a simple historical example.
Imagine you have invested $25,000 in 2015 and held it until 2025.
🥇 If you invested in Gold, your $25,000 would have grown to around $102,000 — about 308% growth in 10 years
📈 If you invested in the S&P 500, with dividends reinvested, your $25,000 would have grown to around $88,000 — about 253% growth.
🏠 Now, let’s look at Real Estate.
Imagine you used that $25,000 as a down payment for your first home worth $500,000 in GTA, it would have grown to $856,000. In other words your $25000 grew to $356,000(about 1324% growth).
“But wait… Real Estate has one BIG difference.”
You don't necessarily need $500,000 to buy a $500,000 property.
With a $25,000 down payment, a first-time buyer could potentially purchase a $500,000 home, subject to qualifying and other costs.
But Growth is for the entire property, not only for your 5% down payment.
And ….That's the power — and the risk — of leverage.
So… which one is better? That's not a simple yes-or-no answer.
Gold, stocks and real estate all have different risks, costs and advantages.
