We’re excited to share the launch of The Staging, a new public art installation at Humbertown Shopping Centre, adding to our national art program and making this the 34th art piece in the program.
 
Created by artist Andrew Wang as part of First Capital’s Art Program, The Staging draws inspiration from the annual migration of King Salmon along the Humber River. The installation features thirty origami-inspired salmon sculptures crafted from translucent, iridescent plastic, suspended to evoke the moment when salmon gather before continuing their journey upstream. Additional sculptures extend through the corridor and Breezeway, creating an immersive experience that guides visitors through the space.
 
This striking installation celebrates the natural history of the local area while reinforcing our commitment to creating vibrant, engaging community spaces through public art.

We are proud to announce that once again First Capital has earned a spot on The Globe and Mail Women Lead Here list for 2024!

Approximately 500 publicly traded companies in Canada were evaluated with regard to female representation in leadership, as well as their implemented tangible and organizational progress related to executive gender parity.

First Capital is one of only 97 selected to earn the Women Lead Here award for 2024.

First Capital has won a CoStar Impact Award for Lease of the Year!

The awards recognize outstanding commercial real estate transactions and projects completed in 2023 that have had a significant impact on neighbourhoods or submarkets across 128 major markets in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

The annual CoStar Impact Awards celebrate commercial real estate practitioners who have brought leadership, innovation, and professionalism to their markets by highlighting commendable transactions and projects.

We received this award for the Altea AVANT lease completed at One Bloor East. The lease spans 31,000 square feet, most of which is the upper level of the former Nordstrom Rack that closed in May 2023. This innovative concept in luxury fitness and wellness will anchor the iconic Toronto intersection of Yonge and Bloor.

We are committed to enhancing our neighbourhood portfolio with best-in-class brands and operators, and Altea certainly aligns with this strategy. Congratulations to Eric Sherman and the rest of our Yorkville leasing, operations, and construction teams involved with this transaction.
