📍 Liberty Village magic in full effect.

One thing about brick and beam buildings? They never stop surprising you.
Every alley, every corner, every shaft of light bouncing off the brick tells a story. And somehow, I’m still finding new nooks that inspire me like it’s the first time.

These spaces aren’t just buildings. They’re backdrops for ideas, moodboards for brands, and quiet muses for creatives.

And this one? It’s a masterpiece waiting to be explored.
👀 Come get lost in it.

Universal Music Canada's office in Liberty Village is a hub of creative energy and star-studded interactions, boasting 45,000 square feet with modern amenities like state-of-the-art recording studios and a coffee shop, Arvo, favoured by celebrities such as Shawn Mendes. This trendy workplace was a result of UMC's vision to foster artist collaboration and inspiration, realized with the help of Superkül Architecture. The ground floor houses Arvo and a versatile event space, while the second floor features 80A Studios, a private recording facility. The office showcases unique features like Trevor Wheatley's mirrored-glass installation and Kathryn Walter's sound-buffering, organic grey carpeted walls. Notable meeting rooms, including the Massey boardroom, pay homage to iconic Canadian music venues.

Prime is now 6.7%

The Bank of Canada has raised its overnight lending rate by 25 basis points, bringing it to 4.5%, the highest level in 15 years as the bank looks to tame inflation. This now brings the Prime Rate in Canada to 6.7%! However, the bank has signaled that this hike could be the last one for 2023, providing a breather for a real estate industry heavily impacted by the rising rate environment that affects floating rate debt. The bank expects Canadian economic growth to stall through the middle of 2023, before picking up later in the year. However, the bank also warned it is prepared to increase the policy rate further to return inflation to the 2% target.

Working from home has been a popular trend during the COVID-19 pandemic, but going to the office has its own set of benefits for company culture such as fostering community and collaboration among employees, more opportunities for face-to-face interactions and professional development. However, remote work also has its advantages such as increasing employee satisfaction, work-life balance and attracting top talent. We need to find the best balance between remote and in-person work to foster a positive and productive culture, one solution we are seeing more and more is a hybrid model where employees work from home a couple of days a week and come into the office for a few days. This allows for the benefits of both remote and in-person work to be realized while also addressing the unique needs of the workforce.
