The liberal government released their new budget on Tuesday which contains new rules for first-time homebuyers.

𝐑𝐑𝐒𝐏 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞
You can now borrow $35,000 from your RRSP to purchase a home. This is an increase from $25,000 previously. This amount still needs to be repaid to your RRSP over 15 years.

𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗼𝗮𝗻
First time buyers who make under $120,000 may qualify for an interest free loan from CMHC. The mortgage cannot exceed 4 x the persons income (so max. $480,000 mortgage).
5% - If buying an existing home
10% - If buying a new build home

𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗼𝗮𝗻
Homebuyers would eventually have to repay the loan, possibly when they sell the property, but it is currently unclear what the details of the loan and the repayment would be. More comprehensive information should be available in Sept 2019.
