Here’s what can turn a cheap quote into an expensive day:

🚚 Late arrival
Your condo elevator is booked for three hours, and the crew shows up an hour late. Now you’re scrambling with building management while the clock keeps ticking.

🛋️ Damaged furniture
A couch squeezed through a doorway without protection. A dresser dragged across the floor. A TV loaded without being secured. One repair can wipe out everything you saved.

That E is just there to confuse you. It’s not “Yong.”
2. Strachan • “Strawn”
Nothing about the spelling prepares you for this one.
3. Queens Quay • “Queens Key”
If you said “Queens Kway,” welcome to Toronto. You’ll settle in soon 😂
4. Roncesvalles • “Ron-sess-vails”
This is why everyone just says Roncy. Less pressure.
5. Spadina Avenue • “Spuh-DYE-nuh”
Think “dine.” If you’ve heard the subway announcement enough, you know.
6. Wellesley • “WELLZ-lee”
Two syllables. You don’t need to pronounce every letter.
7. Grosvenor • “GROVE-ner”
The S is silent. Toronto really makes up its own rules.
8. Eglinton • “EG-lin-tun”
There’s no second G. Even people born here slip an extra one in.
9. Geoffrey • “JEFF-ree”
Just like the guy named Jeffrey. “Gee-off-ree” is doing too much.
10. Dupont • “DOO-pont”
Start with “doo,” not “duh.” A little pronunciation warmup before you get stuck in traffic.

A $500 move and a $2,000 move can look almost identical on paper.

Same number of bedrooms. Same city. Maybe even a similar distance.

But the details are what actually determine the amount of work involved.

Stairs, elevators, long hallways, walking distance to the truck, heavy or oversized furniture, truck size, crew size, travel distance, disassembly and reassembly, and the amount of protection required can completely change a move.

Two “1-bedroom moves” can require completely different crews, trucks, equipment, and time.

That’s also why the cheapest quote isn’t always comparing the same level of service.
