As human beings, we’re naturally and instinctively programmed to avoid change at all costs. In the wild, it was a matter of energy preservation and risk avoidance. But in our lives today, that innate fear programmed in our brains is often what keeps us from going after our dreams.
The mere thought of leaving where you are and what you know can be scary and send your body and mind into anxiety. In my life as an entrepreneur, that fear was nagging at my ear at every challenge and decision I had to make. It was there every step of the way.
What separates success from stagnation is not the absence of fear, but how we deal with that. If we compare our present selves with our true selves - the one we want to achieve - we are giving the first step to convince our inner selves that change is worth the risk. When we get our inner and rational selves to agree on where we want to be, that’s when change truly starts.
I’ll tell you right now that the little voice of fear won’t go away immediately. You’ll need to constantly talk to your inner self and remind it why you’re taking that journey. But I promise, that over time, the little voice gets less and less loud and annoying until it isn’t there anymore - and we finally change!
