Rachel Currey

Rachel Currey Real Estate Broker with Dave Dubbin & Associates - Sotheby's International Realty Canada, Brokerage I’ve always had a passion for real estate.

No two people have the same path, & no two agents are the same. I spent most of my Sundays as a child window shopping at open houses with my mom. I watched HGTV shows religiously. I was always poking my nose around trying to find out what our neighbour's home sold for. But, growing up I was shy. I thought that a “good” real estate agent needed to have a larger-than-life personality and needed to b

e a sleazy salesman. So I kept the interest as a hobby and never gave it much thought as a career path. When it came time to choose a post-secondary path, I really was not sure what or who I wanted to be. So I picked the most practical program I could think of. I studied Urban and Regional Planning & boy did I learn a lot! Cities and Regions are complex so the course load was very diverse. I studied topics like ecology, economics, land development, geography, statistics, demographics, architecture, infrastructure and so much more. At the end of my 4-year program, I was a Jill of all trades, but a master of none. I also got over my shyness. I could have pursued a Master's Degree. I could have specialized in one part of the field. But, I wanted to find a fulfilling career where I could combine all the knowledge that I gained, apply it every day and make a positive impact on people’s lives. Then it hit me – Real Estate! Purchasing real estate is usually the largest transaction of a person’s life. It requires knowledge of the surrounding area… the transit systems, the existing and planned infrastructure, the future economic and development growth, any environmental concerns and/or considerations, demographics, and so much more. I thought that maybe this knowledge base that I have developed, plus my genuine nature would be invaluable to my clients. I believed that if I was an advisor rather than a sales rep it would attract more clients and it turns out, I was right! Now as a real estate Broker, I use my character, knowledge base, research skills, and experience to help savvy young professionals get on & up the property ladder. Yes! You can bring your dog to a patio in Etobicoke, and the best of them are clustered in the south end between Mimico, Humber Bay Shores and New Toronto.

In our blog we feature five spots, one of them runs a standing Sunday dog hang with discounted pints, which is about as close to a purpose-built dog patio as this side of the city gets.

Liberty Village runs on coffee ☕️

The neighbourhood packs more good independent cafes into a few blocks than almost anywhere else in the west end.

After years of living and showing condos here, we have our opinions and I’d be curious what your recommendations are!

Check out our blog for our top five coffee shops; a map, what to order at each and one honest caveat per cafe.
