So, school is finally back in session. As of Sept 14th, TDSB has reported 25 active COVID-19 cases.
As alarming as that number may sound, you and your kids have finally got some normalcy back in your lives.

Your child can raise their hand, go up to the board to solve that math equation or bring something cool to show and tell🥇

Here is a photo of my niece on her 1st day of school this year.
The joy and excitement in her were enough to make my heart explode.

Our child's school experience now comes in the form of mask-wearing and a strict recess schedule.
Protocols are in place, which many are happy to follow. Your child is deserving of this in-person school experience and is finally reunited with friends.
The big question is, but for how long?

Schools across ON have dismissed classes. Students are being asked to self-isolate at home to stop the spread.
Once again, you find yourself struggling with having the kids back at home.🤯
Your schedule is out of whack.

You feel defeated as a parent, and what kind of mental toll is this taking on our children? In-person learning is invaluable. Despite our best effort with virtual learning, nothing compares to in-person education.

Stand tall and keep pushing through. You're doing the best you can.

HOW TO SPOT [MOLD] WHILE 🏠 HUNTING

A detached bungalow had hit the market down the street from my parent's house.
It showed great online and had great potential, so I booked a showing. My family and I loaded up the kids in the car, and off we went.

The house was small, a lot smaller than it showed in the photos. Our tour on the main floor lasted a whole 2 minutes before exploring the basement.

The moment we opened the door, there it was—that familiar musty, damp smell.
We knew there was mold, but just how much and of what kind?

There are thousands of different mold species, some more harmful than others.
Our bodies can respond to them in a variety of different ways. This poses a significant risk to those with asthma, our littles (kids), and those immune-compromised.

So here are a few things to look out for when house hunting.
This can save your family a great deal of money, time and potential health problems.

1: Look for stains or discolouration on floors, walls, window panes, ceilings, showers and 🛁’s.

2: Obvious signs of leaks, flooding and condensation.

3: Area of concern is cracked, warped or peeling.

3: There's a musty odour or earthy smell🍄

At that moment, we knew this house wasn't the home for us. As a growing family, this was not something we wanted to take on. Certainly not with a toddler.

HOW TO DECIDE ON A 🏡SECURITY SYSTEM...EVEN IF IT IS ONLY A BAT

Growing up, my family didn't have a security system. In fact, my dad's handy dandy miniature baseball bat is all we had to rely on.

As kids, we thought it was the coolest thing. We knew that this bat if used with enough force, can do some damage.

We slept soundly, knowing it was there to protect us if ever a 'bad guy" broke into the house.🥷😱

So, what security measures do you have in place to keep your family safe? Does that come in the form of a miniature baseball bat, high-tech security alarm system or even a 🔫 if you live in the US?

The way I see it, regardless of what those measures are, if it helps you sleep at night, you're on the right track!
