After walking through a lot of homes with buyers, I’ve noticed something:

It’s usually not the expensive repairs that scare people away first. It’s the little things that make them immediately start thinking, “How much is this going to cost me?”

Here are a few bathroom features I’d think twice about before putting a home on the market:

🚫 Bold wallpaper that only fits one person’s style.

🚫 Carpet in the bathroom. Moisture and carpet just aren’t friends.

🚫 Dark paint in a bathroom with very little natural light. It can make the whole room feel smaller.

🚫 A vanity that’s so big you have to squeeze around it.

🚫 Pedestal sinks. They look nice, but buyers always ask, “Where do I put my stuff?”

🚫 Outdated builder-grade light fixtures. A simple update can completely change the feel of the room.

🚫 Heavy curtains that block natural light. If you’ve got a window, let it do its job.

The good news? Most of these are relatively inexpensive fixes, but they can make a big difference in how buyers feel the moment they walk in.
