⚠️ A property’s past doesn’t always show up at closing, but it can resurface later.

In a recent BC claim, our insureds discovered an open building permit left by a previous owner, tied to incomplete inspections.

An afternoon well spent at the ballpark! ⚾

🏡 When a real estate transaction closes, the risks don't always end there.

In a new article for LESA, Stewart Title Canada’s Nicole McLellan explores how title insurance helps Alberta lawyers navigate risks that can cause delays in real estate transactions, including challenges related to obtaining an RPR with municipal compliance and lengthy registration gap timelines.

The article highlights how title insurance complements the lawyer’s role, providing added protection for buyers and lenders when unexpected challenges emerge after a transaction is complete such as unknown encroachments, utility and tax arrears, existing liens and work orders, title fraud and other risks.
