What a beauty!

Last week I talked about how Goderich is one of Ontario's premium towns.

This week, my clients bought a gorgeous home there!

Built in 1880, this charming 3-bedroom home captured everything they were looking for: character, a mature garden, private parking, high ceilings, and a location just steps from the lake.

Homes like this remind me why people are discovering Goderich. Historic architecture, walkable streets, beautiful waterfront views, and a pace of life that's becoming harder to find.

Congratulations to my buyers on securing a little piece of this remarkable town.

I'd be happy to share what makes this community so special—either for personal use or as a rental investment—and help you find your own exceptional space.

Summer in Ontario means working with Buyers/Friends in Goderich!!!!
Yes, we’re facing multiple offers, and average prices for 3-bedroom homes that need renovating hovering around the mid-600s.

Goderich is very pretty, with its main square (it’s actually an octagon) attracting visitors from all directions, the quaint harbour, with lighthouse and beach. The old train station is now a restaurant. Homes in this area can go back to the early 1800s.

Yes, I did go up the 179 steps to the lighthouse, and yes I did plunge into the cold but clear blue lake.

Goderich has an affluent, professional community as well as older, retirees. Its main industries are salt mine, health care, and tourism. It is an excellent town for easy rentals to locals/tourists.

The boardwalk with its historical plaques is my favourite. It’s easy to imagine where Canada’s pioneers first strutted and it was an honour to steps into their shoes if only with a quick flash of imagination.

𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

Main Points

- Unemployment fell to 6.6%, indicating more Canadians found work than were entering unemployment.
- 88,000 jobs were added, the largest monthly gain since late 2025.
- Full-time employment increased by 154,000 jobs, which is generally viewed as a higher-quality form of job growth because full-time positions tend to offer greater income stability and benefits.
- Since total employment rose by 88,000 while full-time jobs rose by 154,000, this implies that part-time employment declined by roughly 66,000 jobs during the month.

What This Means For Real Estate

🏡 For Buyers

Greater job security can make it easier to qualify for financing and feel confident about making a purchase.
More stable employment often translates into stronger consumer confidence.

🏠 For Sellers

A healthier job market typically increases the pool of qualified buyers.
Improved confidence can encourage hesitant buyers to re-enter the market.

🔑 Bottom Line
This is positive news for both buyers and sellers. While there certainly is room for growth, improving employment is often one of the first indicators that confidence is returning to the housing market.

DECLUTTER TODAY, LIVE LIGHTER EVERYDAY

1. Start with what’s visible first
Don’t begin with storage rooms or sentimental boxes. Start with surfaces: kitchen counters, entry tables, bathroom counters, nightstands. Visible order creates immediate psychological relief and momentum.

2. Use the “Would I pack this to move?” test
Pick up an object and ask: If I were moving to a beautiful new home tomorrow, would I carefully pack this? If the answer is no, it may be time to donate, recycle, or discard it.

3. Declutter by category, not by room
Instead of “doing the bedroom,” do all books, all mugs, all scarves, all paperwork. Seeing the full volume of one category makes decisions much clearer and reduces duplicates.

4. Create one elegant “transition box”
For items you’re emotionally unsure about, place them in one attractive box or basket with a date on it. If you haven’t looked for or missed those items in 3–6 months, you’ll usually feel more confident letting them go.

5. Replace guilt with usefulness
Many people keep things because they were expensive, gifted, or tied to an old identity. Instead of asking, “Should I keep this?” ask: “Does this support the life I’m trying to build now?”
That shift makes decluttering feel less like loss and more like editing your environment intentionally.
