Bank of Canada just held their key interest rates at 2.25% recently mainly due to the uncertainty going on all over the world. They’re in a “wait and see” mode.

There’s too much global chaos to make a bold move: the Middle East conflict causing an increase in oil prices, US tariffs still shifting, and financial markets bouncing around daily. Due to the unpredictability, they held it steady at 2.25%.

Inflation has increased up to 2.4%. It’s not high enough to increase it but not low enough to cut rates either.
