Dallas Road is the walk Victoria locals do without really thinking about it, ocean on one side, the city rising up on the other, and views across to the Olympic Mountains the whole way.

It runs right along the edge of most of our neighbourhoods, so it's less "tourist attraction" and more "the route you'll end up taking every morning without planning to."

Canada's oldest Chinatown is tucked right into downtown Victoria, and most people walk past the entrance without realizing it's there.

Fan Tan Alley claims the title of narrowest street in the country, barely wide enough for two people to pass. Add in the lantern-lit storefronts on Fisgard Street, and it's a five minute detour that ends up being everyone's favourite photo from the trip.

Mount Douglas doesn't ask much of you a manageable trail, maybe 45 minutes up and gives back one of the best views in Greater Victoria in return.

From the top you get the whole city, the harbour, the Gulf Islands, and on a clear day, the Olympic Mountains across the water. Free, dog-friendly, and somehow still not on most visitors' radar.

Here, furnished means the couch, the coffee maker, the pots and pans, the iron, the extra linens in the closet. Everything you'd actually need, already there.

It sounds like an odd recommendation, but hear us out, Ross Bay Cemetery might be one of the most peaceful walks in Victoria.

Ocean views, 150 years of local history, massive old trees, and almost nobody else around. Locals walk their dogs here. It's quieter than most parks and twice as interesting.

Most people don't know you can just walk into Government House Gardens free, open daily, and somehow almost always empty.

Century-old trees, formal rose gardens, and views over the city, all ten minutes from downtown. It's the kind of place that makes you wonder why the harbour gets all the attention.
