Most of my clients are happy families, but I also have the skills to handle the transition for divorcing couples. From your first to your last, the process of buying or selling a home is about so much more than a transaction. It’s about beginning a new life together, raising a family, starting a new adventure, creating memories and sometimes starting over. Real estate is more than just a business to me. It’s about service and service is my passion. It’s my goal to make every single client feel like they are my only client. Real Estate has ALWAYS been about relationships for me. I have invested countless hours learning the art of real estate and maintaining the respect of my clients. Getting to know them, and building lasting relationships is really part of who I am. I celebrate with a full heart when a client calls to cancel their listing because they have decided to save their marriage. I weep with my clients when they don’t get the house of their dreams, and rally around them to encourage them to wait for “their” home. Picking an exterior paint colour sounds easy… until you realize this is the colour the whole world sees first. 😅

We started with TEN different whites. Warm whites, soft whites, bright whites, creamy whites… and somehow the more samples you look at, the harder it gets!

You have to consider if they have a green or blue undertone, or will it look too yellow or too grey on the house ...it affects the whole look!

After a lot of back and forth, we’ve narrowed it down to our final three:

**Pure White SW7005**
**Alabaster SW7008**
**Bright White SW7007**

I know, I know.... they are super close, but they are indeed quite different!

We’re keeping the windows and garage doors black, so now it comes down to finding the white that feels just right with all that contrast.

I've been dreaming about having a white house all my life, and now I can't decide on the right white!!!

Our Home Away From Home ❤️

It was supposed to be a few weeks. Somehow, a few weeks turned into almost five months of travelling back and forth between the Ugly House and our little Airbnb retreat in the country.

And what a gift this little place turned out to be. While the Ugly House was filled with contractors, dust, boxes and what felt like dozens of decisions every single day, we had this peaceful little spot to come home to.

Quiet mornings. Beautiful sunrises. Breathtaking sunsets. The river nearby. Country air. And, perhaps best of all, more time with our grandchildren than we ever expected to have.

It became our place to exhale at the end of some very long days - a home away from home while our real home was being torn apart and slowly put back together. But now, finally, it’s time. Time to pack up our things, say goodbye to our little country retreat and go home to the Ugly House.

We are incredibly grateful for this place and the unexpected season we spent here. What was supposed to be a temporary stop became a very special part of this whole crazy adventure. Goodbye, little house. Thank you for taking such good care of us. Ugly House…we’re coming home.

I once pulled the brakes on a listing that was ready to go.

The house was ready. The market was right. My clients were beyond eager to move on after a very long divorce process.

But the Separation Agreement wasn't signed yet. And I've seen "we've agreed on everything" turn into "there's just one more thing" more times than I can count.

So I pushed pause.

In this month's blog I'm sharing exactly what happened, why I did it, and what it taught me about the difference between momentum and progress.

Did you catch the subtle foreshadowing in my last post about the Ugly House? Because apparently, even a sink can derail a renovation. 😂

As the installers were fitting our beautiful new clay-fired apron-front sink, something wasn’t quite right.

Out came the level and there it was. Our brand-new sink was warped and crooked as could be. 😳

No problem, we thought. We’ll just replace it. Except…it was out of production... Because of course it was!

So we had to choose an entirely different brand - which, of course, didn’t fit the cabinet that had already been built for the original sink.

New sink. New cabinet. Several more weeks added to the kitchen installation. All because of one crooked sink.

There’s probably a “everything but the kitchen sink” joke in here somewhere…but at this point, the kitchen sink seems to be responsible for everything. 😂

It’s All in the Details

Who knew picking trim, doors and hardware could require this many decisions? 😳

I also discovered that Dan is a little obsessed with trim - it's a hobby of his (who knew?!)

Style matters. Colour matters. And apparently, COST really matters.

There are a thousand beautiful choices out there, right up until someone tells you what they cost. 😂

Thankfully, with some expert guidance (and a little compromise between Dan and me), we finally landed on a look we both love - one that suits the house, gives us the character we were looking for, and didn’t completely blow the budget.

Turns out, trim isn’t just trim after all.

One more Ugly House decision officially checked off the list. ✅
