We’re often taught to see nervousness as something that needs to be fixed before we can do the thing.

But think about actors, comedians, musicians, speakers… they still get the jitters. They’ve just learned not to fight them.

That nervous energy can sharpen your focus, heighten your awareness, and give you a little extra spark.

So the next time you feel those butterflies, maybe don't try so hard to make them disappear.

Take a breath. Let them be there. Then go do the thing anyway.

The jitters aren't proof you can't handle it. They might just be part of what helps you show up.

🐝 Wasp season hits differently. 😂

A gazebo with netting is great all summer long — keeping the flies out of your food and the mosquitoes from making you their evening buffet.

But by late August?

That screened-in gazebo isn't just a backyard feature anymore.

It's a safe zone. 😂🏡

Funny how the things we value in a home can change with the seasons!

💰 Save a Few Bucks Friday 🔥🪵

Your firewood pile might be inviting more than just a campfire. 🐭

Firewood is a summer staple for many Manitoba homeowners and cabin owners, but where you store it matters. A pile sitting directly against your house, garage, shed, or deck can provide a convenient hiding place for insects, rodents, and other unwanted guests.

Keeping firewood off the ground and away from your home, while covering the top to protect it from rain and snow, can help keep the wood dry and reduce the chance of pests making themselves comfortable nearby.

And there's another bonus: dry, properly seasoned firewood burns more efficiently, giving you more heat from the wood you're burning.

So before your next backyard fire or weekend at the cabin, take a look at where that woodpile is sitting.

Store it smart. Burn it later. Keep the unwanted guests outside. 🔥

🌿 COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: NORWOOD FLATS 🌿

The really interesting part is that Norwood Flats is almost shaped by the river. Tucked between St. Mary’s Road & the Red River, with Lyndale Drive winding through the middle, it’s one of those Winnipeg neighbourhoods that feels tucked away without actually being far from anything.

Take a walk along Lyndale Drive toward Lyndale Park, follow the river & you’ll quickly understand why this little pocket of the city feels so different. Come summer, Coronation Park adds another reason to get outside, with its summer music series bringing people together for evenings of live music in the park. 🎶

And when winter gives us a good early freeze, the Nestaweya River Trail can bring you right into the neighbourhood from The Forks. ❄️

Then there’s the location. Norwood Flats sits right beside St. Boniface, so a short walk or bike ride can take you to the gardens at Jardins St-Léon Gardens, cafés, bakeries & restaurants along Taché & Provencher.

And I can't talk about this side of Winnipeg without mentioning Mrs. Mike’s. If you know, you know. The King Burger, those chili fries & a milkshake are a pretty hard combination to pass up. 🍔

With The Forks, downtown & the meeting of the Red & Assiniboine Rivers all so close, you can have a quiet walk by the water in the morning & be enjoying everything the heart of Winnipeg has to offer by afternoon.

Norwood Flats really is one of those little pockets of Winnipeg that you could drive past a hundred times without realizing what you've been missing.

🏡 TUESDAY TRUTH: Why does your REALTOR® ask so many questions before listing your home?

Because accuracy matters.

What was replaced? Was it permitted? What stays with the home? Is there documentation? Can the information be confirmed?

And sometimes the answer is simply:

“I don’t know.”

That's okay.

“I don’t know — let’s verify it” is far better than making an assumption and putting unconfirmed information into a listing.

As REALTORS®, due diligence and attention to detail are an important part of preparing a home for market. Information may need to be confirmed through records, permits, municipal information, condo documents, contractors or other sources.

Because buyers rely on the information presented when deciding whether a property is right for them.

So when your REALTOR® asks what feels like a hundred questions before your home goes on the market...

There’s a reason.

It's more than putting a home on MLS®.

It's about getting it right.
