"Mold is one of those things that should never be ignored in a rental property. If you notice mold in your unit, the first step is to report it to your landlord or property manager as soon as possible. Taking photos and documenting the area can also be helpful.

Trying to cover it up or paint over it doesn't solve the problem. In many cases, mold is a sign that moisture is getting in from somewhere and the source needs to be identified.

Keep this tip in mind if you ever spot mold in your rental unit."
