I am always grateful for every opportunity I am given to explore, photograph and share from around our city and outside of the city (a lot in the Interlake area). I am also grateful for the other photographers I know who join me on adventures and invite me on ones as well... It's a wonderful community that I love and enjoy and you not only learn more about photography during these things, but you also learn more about people as well..

Loving the series University of Winnipeg Archives has been doing on The J.H. Ashdown Hardware Company, which built our building in 1870 and published its first catalogue in 1888. To tie in with Christmas, the Archives are doing a 12-day Facebook "tour" of the building and catalogue. Be sure to check it out!

Here's a photo of the rebuilt store after the original structure had been destroyed in a 1904 fire.

Complimenting the 1888 catalogue for the Ashdown Hardware Company, here is a photo from the J.H. Ashdown collection. It shows his store at the corner of Bannatyne and Main, newly rebuilt after the 1904 fire that razed the original.
