Born and raised in the vibrant heart of Punjab, India, I grew up in a Sikh joint family that instilled in me the values of community and service. In 1989, I embarked on a new journey, immigrating to England, and by 1996, I found my true home in the welcoming embrace of Winnipeg. My life has been a beautiful mosaic of personal and professional milestones. In 1989, I married the incredible Dr. Param
jit S Tappia, and together we have been blessed with two wonderful children—a daughter and a son who bring immense joy and pride to our lives. As a Realtor since 2004, my career is driven by a deep-seated philosophy of service. I derive immense satisfaction from helping people buy and sell the biggest asset of their life. My work is a reflection of my unwavering commitment to giving back to the community. This passion extends beyond my profession, as I am actively involved in various humanitarian and cultural initiatives. I am particularly dedicated to promoting youth engagement and elevating the profile of Asian women in Manitoba. Since 1996, I have volunteered for numerous organizations including India Association, Punjab foundation and raising funds for women's shelters, Siloam Mission, and the Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council to support the resettlement of Syrian refugees. One of my proudest achievements is founding the Asian Women of Winnipeg (AWOW), an organization dedicated to the empowerment of women. Through AWOW, we celebrate Mother's Day, honor distinguished Asian women on International Women’s Day, and host cultural events like Desi Fest and Lohri Mela, which focus on gender equality and cultural exchange. In addition to my work with AWOW, I serve on the boards of the Asian Heritage Society of Manitoba, Dakota Community Center, and Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council. My journey is a testament to the power of service, community, and the enduring spirit of giving back.
